WMJI not meeting expectations?

Friday night they were playing all Christmas music after switching shortly after WDOK did.

Their Facebook page says they are playing all Christmas music.

BUT, their wmji.com says several things:
1. They are playing Cleveland's greatest holiday hits NOW.
2. Christmas music is coming, tell us when we should start playing it.
3. The last 10 shows the Christmas music that played earlier today.

HOWEVER at this very moment they are playing classic hits with Gary Bryan. Which means the thousands of people leaving the tree lighting ceremony at Crocker Park heard the Loco-Motion rather than White Christmas.

So which is it?
Are you Christmas or not?

This is just my opinion, but they weren't ready to go. WDOK made them flinch, and they quickly thew it on the air. Now they aren't delivering what they set the audience up to expect. How does a station this big not have a clear plan on how to execute something both on-air and in a digital world?

Now I'll wait for VODOOD to claim how this would have never happened under Gorman and Sanders, and he's right.

Could they be scrambling to soak up the last opportunity for higher ratings before Lanigan hangs it up at the end of the year?

Last year they aired the Gary Bryan syndicated show for a few weeks early in the "all Christmas" mode. Although in December they did pre-empt it for the Premium Choice Christmas.

This morning's classic AT40 70s show was pre-empted for a special Casey Kasem Christmas show. Last year the 70s AT40 shows went for the first week or two of Christmas.

@John B... no need for me to say it. :D

But I'll play Devil's Advocate with regards to syndicated programming like Gary Bryan's show (which is very good. I know Gary). WMJI can't control it's content. But they can control whether to air it if it's not a holiday themed show.

As for Lanigan's retirement? Don't hold your breath. 11th hour save for CC CLE? If he were retiring they (he) would be talking about it by now given there's only about six weeks left in 2012.
