WMJI signal range

When I used to live in Hillsville, PA (right across the border from Boardman, OH) WMJI reliably boomed in on the car radio in my driveway, and on my Yamaha tuner hooked to a 6' rod antenna. Also could get WMMS, WNCX, WNIR, WENZ, and WAKS very reliably on those setups.

The real stunner to me...I had a tiny Aiwa "baby boom box" thing with a 2' rod antenna in the kitchen with an FM tuner that covered the entire FM band within a tiny one-inch tuning space...and WMJI came in reliably even on THAT (albeit somewhat staticy). None of the other Cleveland FMs even registered on it.

Going west on the Ohio Turnpike, I can hear WMJI almost to the I-280 interchange near Toledo before Star 105.5 and co-channel WZOM/Defiance creates interference. Get a few miles west of Maumee and WZOM owns the channel.

WMJI the strongest CLE FM. WNCX or WHLK #2, And FWIW I believe Akron's WQMX is pretty strong as well.

When I worked at WMJI I used to get calls from the Toledo metro, Maumee to be specific, and lots of calls from Canada. Can get south down I-71 to just North of Mansfield.

And correct me if I'm wrong (Nathan) but I believe WMJI's tower at the highest point in NE OH. Output isn't high but the tower height is what does it.

I worked summers in Put-In-Bay and heard it clear there

When my girlfriend and I vacationed there in late June, WMJI was the only station I heard on the couple buses that transported us. It was a good signal, too. Don't recall hearing much static at all.
