WMJJ doing Christmas music again

Y'all contain your excitement now... ;)

So, does the "Christmas in July" do anything to increase Magic's ratings? Personally, I cannot get in a Christmas mood in 95 degree weather (and imagine most others cannot either). If they need special programming that much, and since they cannot keep a consistent format anyway, why don't they just do an "All 60's weekend" or something similiar? They can at least do what Q96.1 does and do a "Thousand Song Weekend"!

There's a small section of the population that's bona fide Christmas Crazy and loves everything about the season and they tend to be more female than male and probably part of Magic's targeted demographic. But I don't think it's a large enough group to make much difference in the ratings compared to the ones who will be driven away by the absurdity of the concept.

Still, the fact that they do this year in and year out means it must work on some level.

From a strictly personal opinion standpoint, when I hear Christmas music on the radio, no matter the time of year, that station gets yanked from my presets faster than an exploding burrito from the microwave. Nothing drives me away from the holiday spirit more than the same 25 tired classics and 5 new awful renditions played ad nauseum, especially when it starts on Thanksgiving. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? I'm all in. But the run-up for a month before and Christmas in sweltering July? Bah friggin' humbug.

Amen to that mr. Zach :) I'm no big fan of Christmas music. I can listen to it on December 25th and that's it.

This post was typed from my new IPad. I love this new device. It rocks! :)
