WMJX Celebrity Promos

WMJX may sound like a boring station, but they actually have a LOT of celebrity promos on that station, as I'm sure a lot of you know. During some commercial breaks, they'll play part of a song, and the artist themselves will introduce themselves and do the famous "More continuous soft rock is just 1 minute away on Magic 106.7." It appears that almost every artist they play has done one. From the old ones to the young ones. However, there are some that I have not heard (yet). I don't think Bruce Springsteen ever did one, and neither did Kelly Clarkson. I really think they should do one for Kelly Clarkson, since she gets played on there quite a bit, and is very popular. I mean, Beyonce just recently did one, and so did Christina Aguilera. Interestingly enough, you can actually tell the one they did for Christina was done quite some time ago, because she sounds a lot younger than she is now. But, I mean, even some of the one-hit wonders from years ago have done them. I mean, Benny Mardones did one, and he hasn't had a hit song out since "Into the Night" back in 1980.

But...do you think Kelly Clarkson would be a good one to get on for a promo?

Sure, but I bet it's easier to get Benny Mardones into the studio. He's not as busy as Kelly Clarkson.

Do they actually say the calls or do they just say "Magic" ... because there are a lot of Magic formats all over the country.

Actually the part about MMMMAGIC sounding like a boring station is the only thing that made sense here

Nuts...someone broke the skein of no mentions of WMJX on this board, that's how boring it is...and that's from brief exposures to the station at the Salem, NH State Likker Store where from time to time they have it on in the background.

Complain all you want.....It's so borrrring it's number 1!

I wish my station had those ratings!

Are you a regular there?

No, they don't mention the call letters.

But I remember awhile back like when they first started doing these, sometimes if they couldn't get the celebrity or something, they would play part of a song, and Candi Oteri would do the announcement. And get this, I was actually told that they recorded one with Britney Spears quite some time ago, because I remember they used to play the song called "Sometimes" quite frequently. I'm not sure if you remember that song, from a long time ago? But apparently, when they recorded it, it didn't work.

They don't mention the call letters, but ALL the artists mention "Magic 106.7".

I have never heard a 'generic' one.

Amen! I love it when people critique how awful a station is with huge numbers and money practically being printed in their garage!. As if anyone with any brains would not take working at a boring station with huge ratings and revenue, over working for an exciting station with no numbers and no money coming in. What's the difference? one will be there in the morning when you go into work and they will have your paycheck ready for you when it's supposed to be.

;)
