WMJX playing Summer Songs

I've noticed that during the last few days of this super heat wave, WMJX has been acknowledging it by playing a lot of different songs that are rarely played. I have heard several Beach Boys songs, "Too Hot" by Kool & the Gang, "Hot Fun in the Summertime", "Under the Boardwalk," and quite a few songs from the 70s, and even the 60s that rarely get played on Magic anymore. It's very nice that Magic is still locally owned and operated, because I somehow think that stations owned by major companies like CBS and especially Clear Channel would not even be allowed to do this. Are there any other stations doing this?

I played one full hour of 'hot' titled songs as this week's heat began on "The Lost 45s" Sunday night. They sounded great when it was 90!

Meanwhile as I was driving back from the mid-Atlantic states the other day, WCBS-FM was playing the Phil Spector prod. version of Winter Wonderland (Crystals?) to cool people off

This afternoon XM was playing the Amer Top 40 countdown for this week in 1979; Donna Summer's Bad Girls topped the album and singles charts but I believe her "Hot Stuff" was at #3 for that week, as they counted them down. (Hot Stuff is also the name for a comic book character--that little devilish imp from Harvey Comics)

Just read Sammy Hagar's book and he takes credit for writing (Hot) "Summer Nights." Eddie VH does not come across well in "Red" and if it's accurate Eddie's in very rough shape which is too bad.
