I remember the top of hour had a synthesized/electronic sound effect going up in key with the voiceover "Variety 99-1 is WPLM... AM & FM... Plymouth, Boston, Providence." Back then, the AM & FM were simulcast, obviously.
 
I heard a $25.00 gift certificate to the ninth caller, but that can't be the big announcement.

Maybe I heard wrong and maybe they said 8:20.
 
Yep, that big announcement was that Walt Disney World trip. This is kind of what I figured. Don't ever get too excited about these things.
