WMKE-CA, Channel 7

I was just scanning through the TV and noticed WMKE-CA, Channel 7 in Milwaukee, is carrying programming from the America One television network. I presume it no longer carries MTV2? Does anyone know when the affiliate switch took place?

On a related note, in a previous thread on this station, John L. stated that the tower had been replaced and I corrected him and said that it hadn't. That is correct. However, before WDJT-TV went on the air a new antenna was placed on the tower, and additional equipment was airlifted to the top of the hotel using a helicopter.

I have no idea when the change took place since I don't live within WMKE's coverage range.

But I can tell you dropping MTV-2 for them was long overdue. The original reason for them carrying it was The Box Music Network. 1-1-01 it merged with MTV-2. The merged version was a mix of the national feed along with some local content where viewers could vote for what video they wanted to see next. The local part of it was all gone by the end of 2001.

WMKE's sister station WOCK-CA dropped it for Video Mix in summer 2001 (WMKE did as well but they returned to the MTV-2 feed)

WMKE's other sister WOCH-LP used to run it from Midnight-Noon. They also dropped it recently. Within the past year.

MTV-2 dropped a large amount of its music video programming so thats probably why.

As for America One, WMLW used to run America One programmng until 2002-2003 when that stock network went under and they switched to local IND.<P ID="signature">______________
