WMKI-AM 1260 Available?

if not,
hey, how about "Hot Country" ? ("Hot Country" Dial-Global.COM)
They mostly play New Country music, and recent Country music 90s, 2000s and Now.
And on the weekend, put some Syndicated New Music Programs, and Syndicated Countdowns on there. This could be good for people who can't get "Country 102.5" (Inside Boston) Because (Inside Boston) (Country 102.5 can not be heard on any walkman, new and old, it might be the same if you work or live there). Once you go outside the city, it can be well heard.
Also, I know of some Caribbean, and African Americans who like Country music. Roxbury, Southend, Dorchester and parts of Mattapan can not hear Country 102.5. In those cities, the most population is African Americans, and Caribbean. That can benefit

I thought that they switched from 99.5 to 102.5 so that they could be heard in Boston.

They have a much better signal now.

:-[ Not in Boston!!!!
Once you get outside the city, it comes in better. Inside Boston, it does not come in good.
LISTEN EVERYBODY!!!!!
ALL THESE STATIONS DOES NOT COME IN WHEN YOU ARE INSIDE BOSON WHEN LISTENNING ON A WALKMAN, ANY WALKMAN, NEW AND OLD!!!
93.7, 94.5, 97.7, 98.5, 99.5, 101.7, 102.5, and 103.3. All those major stations does not come in when you are inside Boston (Boston Common-Parts of Allston/Brighton. Some of them start coming in good around Harvard Ave in Allston, and Brighton Center area)
You can not hear those stations in Brookline-Fenway area-once you pass Reservoir station going west. After you pass that train station, some of those stations start coming in. Most of Brookline, and the Medical Area (E Line Train-Most of that area you can not hear those stations)
Parts of Cambridge you can not hear those stations as well as Chinatown, Back Bay, Copley area, Kenmore area, Southend, Roxbury, (parts) of Dorchester (Once you enter Fields Corner area, most of those stations come in), and parts of Mattapan,
All of those areas, you can not hear those major Boston radio stations ON ANY WALKMAN, NEW AND OLD, MP3, FM PHONE, HD WALKLMAN, NEW AND OLD, ALL WALKMANS-THOSE STATIONS DO NOT COME IN, THOSE AREAS OF BOSTON

it might be different if you use a (Walkman with a Good Antanna-I have a Pocket One Speaker/headphones AM/FM Digitnal Radio, yes with that one, yes, I get all those stations inside and outside the city. The only two stations I have a hard time with inside and outside the city with that walkman and any walkman is 99.1 and 107.3, especially 107.3

Anyways, it might be different if you live in those areas or work there? I don't know. It might be different, or you might experience the same as me?

All I know is ALL those stations, in those areas of Boston, you can not get all those stations on ANY walkman. I don't care what anyone say, it's true!!!! ANY WALKMAN, ANY PRODUCT, NEW AND OLD, PHONE FM, MP, AND HD, ANY ONE, IN THOSE AREAS YOU CAN NOT GET THOSE STATIONS 93.7, 94.5, 98.5, 99.5, 101.7, AND 103.3 YOU CAN NOT HEAR IN MOST OF INSIDE BOSTON!!!!

I forgot 97.7 that you can not get.
With that one, once you get outside the city, especially south of the city, it comes in much better. It does come in East Boston-Northshore but the signal is iffy. It's still listnable. On a walkman, I pick it up as far noth as Ipswich, Ma, in a car as far as NH Border (Seacoast area)

not just you. i blogged a 6 hour walk around boston in August. my test radios are a SRF-39fp SONY, a Degen DE1125, and my phone, which has a similar SILabs chip as Degen. i think a lot of it boils down to way too much RF coming off the skyscrapers. one more reason radio is dead - it's impossible to listen to

The Walkman and radios of that same type are notorious for succumbing to overload and intermod. Reception under those conditions depends on the radio you're using.

I have no trouble whatsoever with any of these signals close-in to their transmitter sites.

I'M TALKING ABOUT INSIDE THE CITY
I DON'T CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS
WHAT I SAY IS TRUE
NO MATTER WHAT WALKMAN YOU USE, NEW, OLD, ALL TYPES, YOU CAN NOT GET THOSE STATIONS IN THOSE PART OF BOSTON

sooo.... don't use a walkman?

Honestly for the majority of radio listeners, I'd say it's a non-issue. I can't remember the last time I saw somebody not in the business using a walkman. Most radio listening is done in the car or in the office. In these settings, I've never had an issue with the signals.

The city can be a pretty noisy place for AM though, there's a lot of electrical noise to compete with.

I think this has been covered before, but does anyone know which suburban Boston AM for 725k is listed here?

Re: Suburban 5/1kW AM for $725K?

Let’s try again. ;D

Suburban Boston MA 5000w day/1000w nights AM station, good day signal of southern area of city, favorable T. Site lease, asking $725,000

Well, according to the FCC’s DB, there are 6 total possibilities:

FCC Data Base said:
WBNW 1120 kHz DA2 Daytime CONCORD MA 5.0 kW
WBNW 1120 kHz DA2 Nighttime CONCORD MA 1.0 kW

WPKZ 1280 kHz DA2 Daytime FITCHBURG MA 5.0 kW
WPKZ 1280 kHz DA2 Nighttime FITCHBURG MA 1.0 kW

WORC 1310 kHz DA2 Daytime WORCESTER MA 5.0 kW
WORC 1310 kHz DA2 Nighttime WORCESTER MA 1.0 kW

WBSM 1420 kHz DA2 Daytime NEW BEDFORD MA 5.0 kW
WBSM 1420 kHz DA2 Nighttime NEW BEDFORD MA 1.0 kW

WKOX 1430 kHz DAN Daytime EVERETT MA 5.0 kW
WKOX 1430 kHz DAN Nighttime EVERETT MA 1.0 kW

WXBR 1460 kHz DAN Daytime BROCKTON MA 5.0 kW
WXBR 1460 kHz DAN Nighttime BROCKTON MA 1.0 kW

Considering it being a "good day signal of southern area of city", my guess is either WBSM or WXBR. Wasn’t WXBR looking around?

iPod nano's have had FM tuners for a couple years now. so do all the other MP3 players. wasnt there some NAB-related announcement about new phones required to have FM tuners? once these people venture past their mp3 collection theyre going to realize recieving FM is impossible. unless theyre out in Brighton or the southern parts of Dorchester/Mattapan.

i guess there was some calculated decision long ago that eliminating picket-fencing for people listening in a car 40 miles away driving under a bridge was worth a 10x power increase and obliterating. yes my SONY has a DX/Local switch, doesnt help. these radios im using are quite good - i can listen to a country station from NEw Bedford on 98.1 in the port-norfolk part of dorcheter, or the 5 watt classical translator on 96.3 from quincy, plus they can hear all the mattapan pirates walking in downtown Sharon. but can they listen to WZBC in the fenway? nope!
