Just spoke with Joe Weber, who is suffering from laryngitis, and he declined to comment. That implies the rumor has some validity to it. He does have deep pockets and perhaps more cash to market WWAA-AM than the current owner. When I spoke with Jon Sinton, the president of Air America national at the Variety Playhouse Al Franken appearance a few weeks back, and he said he wished 1690 had more money to market itself.

I wonder if that would be in addition to 1160 or whether he would sell 1160. WWAA has less daytime power and is in the extended band. But it still has a good daytime signal and covers much more area at night than 1160, which is 160 watts at night.

I posted this about two weeks ago.
But, I was receiving 1690 in NW Alabama during the middle of the day.
1160's signal just plain sucks.
It is miserable at all costs.
I can still clearly pick up 1690 at night within a 40 mile radius of the Cheshire Bridge Rd. site.
1160 sounds like a 250 watter by day. It really is a joke of a 50kw, IMO

I can see it now... "1690: The Station Closest to the Glove Compartment! Liberals Move to the Right!"
