WMMO on Star 94.5 HD2

So Cox just recently replaced the Gospel format on WCFB HD2 with WMMO. I've heard of HD2 and HD3 channels repeating the audio from a Class D Translator and the other way around. I've never heard of an HD2 repeating a Full Power FM. Has this been done in other markets before, I do think it is a smart idea considering the limitations of the 98.9 signal. Can't cover Daytona/ Volusia the way 94.5 can, given 94.5 is a local in that area.

Could be a "test" of sorts, since 96.5 is bombing in the ratings. Could we see MMO move to 96.5?

Ouch. If DBO leaves FM, the AM is already gone. That would not be good. People do listen to DBO, despite the reflection of the ratings.

WDBO was fine on 580 before all of the hype of moving AM talk signals to FM, and still would be today if none of the moves had taken place.

Driving the coast north and south of Daytona Beach for work, I appreciated having WDBO on FM.

But they started to lose me when they moved Clark Howard to nights and gave Mel Robbins an hour of the Neal Boortz slot. Hannity is too one-note partisan for me, so now that Boortz is gone and Herman Cain is on, I avoid the station completely unless I can catch some of Mark Levin at night.

So true.

When plans were being discussed to buy more stations in the 90s, the Granum folks were considering moving WMMO to a better frequency (although the better frequency they were coveting was 107.7 due to its history as Zeta7...but 96.5 was also on the table and wa being considered as an option so as to remove a competitor). There was also discussion of buying 99.3 in Cocoa and simulcasting to cover the coast. They even played around with a "99 WMMO" logo for that idea.

I was in the Ridge Manor East/Webster area this past Friday night (the 8th) and 94.5HD2, at least at that time, between 1030 and 11PM was back to the urban gospel format. I don't know if that was a fluke or not; will have to check next trip back to that area to see if WMMO is back on the HD2 or not.

Meanwhile, in nearby Tampa, the FM simulcast of WFLA has been replaced by the rebirth of "Thunder".

I don't get it, why does news/talk seem to be flatlining on FM in Florida (save for a WTKS)?

TKS isn't news/talk, it's Hot talk. Different creature entirely. Talk purposely built for FM.
