WMMR reception

Can someone explain to me why I can get most of the stations clearly but MMR doesn't come in at all in my home? I live in Roxborough, not far from the tower farm, but you would think it would affect all of the stations, not just one.

I live in Roxborough too, and yes WMMR reception is hard to come by in the house. The reason is that they don't broadcast from the farm. They broadcast from Center City, from on top of One Liberty Place.

I figured as much. While inside at the food court recently at Gallery Mall (in Center City), nearly all of the FM signals went to crap once inside a good distance. All I was getting at one point was a weak stereo signal of WMMR-FM and a little bit of WRNB-FM 107.9 of Pennsauken, NJ (I think their transmitter is in that area as well).

probaly some kind of electrical interference in the area

ie: power plant, underground fault line, other radio tower

In this case, it's probably due to there being no windows on that side of the food court.

In South, North, West and CC Philly, plus the city of Camden and its suburbs, WMMR and WRNB are just the opposite of the antenna farm signals, they are extremely strong. Due to the fact they both use Liberty One, if it were not for 103.9, WMMR could, AND WOULD of moved to the antenna farm. As it stands now, if 103.9 interferes with WMMR in any way, they would have to reduce power immediately. You would think GM would buy 103.9 just to shut it down or move it and put WMMR in Rox.

So, if they had a tower in the tower farm the reception in Roxborough would be better?

Perhaps they could put a translator on 92.9 in Roxborough. There already is a translator on 96.9 only 400 kHz and a few feet from Wired 96.5. The 92.9 translator would also wipe out that pirate station in Philly.<P ID="signature">______________
