WMMR's and their "Heritage"

WMMR does not have a heritage. If they did, they would still be breaking new artists. KROQ, now there is a station with a heritage, a station breaking new artists for 25+ years and NOT growing up with its listeners. MMR has has so many face lifts over the years from AOR to AAA to classic rock to mainstream rock to suggest there is a Heritage to hold on to is crazy.

As a 26 yr old, I fondly remember the AAA days when Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, Lyle Lovett was played on the station.

Come on, give them a little credit, they are allllllllll over Breaking Benjamin...(insert cricket noises here). What Lyle Lovett song did they play? Ohhhh right, I remember rockin' out to "I go for penguins" listening to wmmr a couple of summers ago.

That Uncle Tupelo, Lyle Lovett and Wilco thing must have been played during those few months that I switched to WDRE back in the day. Did they get played more than once?

Yes Breaking Benjamin, but they DON'T touch the new Mudvayne
IMO they are are all over the place.....as much as I think P&S will help
their ratings I think they are heading in the wrong direction with their musical direction.

I agree. They need to define WMMR and WMGK. I can't stand the overlap ANYMORE!!! :(

I can be of assistance with 102.9, it's alot of Bruce Springsteen, and a whole lot of Woodstock era classic rock. MMR is A bit of this and some of that, hell at MMR it's all rock music.

What would be odd about WMMR playing the Gin Blossoms, Dishwalla, and Counting Crows? They played every one of those songs when they were currents.
I think WMMR would serve itself well by not attempting to go head to head with YSP, leave the Metallica and AC/DC to them, and move back in the direction that they never should have left: intelligent, adult rock that skews younger as to protect MGK.

I think GM would serve themselves better if the relegated Gin Blossoms, Dishwalla and Counting Crows to BEN-FM. (they are probably on there already but it's just more of GM overlap between it's stations. I personally don't listen to BEN-FM) Define the musical lines between MMR and MGK better and don't overlap songs. If MGK plays the old rock songs, let them play them, but don't play the same old tired songs on MMR because I believe people are looking to MMR to reign in the modern rock listeners. They have a foot in the door but they need to refine their playlists. MGK has about 200 songs they play constantly. No room for any other 'OLD' rock songs. Just the same ones over and over and over. C'mon, you've all listened too and know what I'm saying! There are so many other Classic Rock songs they don't even touch. Just the same 200 or so - and I'm being generous. Why in the world would MMR play ANY of those tired old 200 or so songs? It's ridiculous.
