WMMS Cleveland Browns stream

Just wanted to give a shout out to whichever employee at WMMS or Iheartradio who forgot to turn off the Internet stream during the Browns-Eagles game tonight.

I was able to listen to the entire first half online, free, without having to pay NFL.com's criminal prices.

A lot of stations stream entire NFL games without repercussions. WLW and WTUE for the Bengals come to mind off hand, as does WBBM with the Bears. The NFL is a lot more lax with this than MLB.

wow! this is usually block and you can not listen to a cleveland browns game on the internet. big big oops on the part of WMMS and a win win for the listener. the listener wins this time. it is about time.

It's an automatic thing in the computer I am sure based on content tells the web audio switcher to route alternative audio instead of the program feed... Sounds like a command was missed and the listener of the web stream got lucky this time.

Alan Cox has been promoting "listen to the Browns on WMMS or at WMMS.com" on his show for all of the preseason games. Chad said "that's great, but I want to hear the local guys and not the national feed on the stream" and Alan said no, they stream the actual WMMS feed with Doug Dieken on the website.

Beats me how the stuck-in-1972 NFL allows this, but it would seem they are.

You know what.. Now that you mention this it seems like it was on purpose.. I was listening to WWL online this morning to hear about Tropical Storm Isaac and they had a promo about "listening to Saints football on WWL AM and FM and now on our .Com" Apparently the NFL is allowing some streaming (as long as they don't I guess allow it to be streamed over separate mobile apps from what I heard on WWL) ... Kinda shocking for "restriction based" NFL.
