WMMS Morning Show

WMMS has pulled their morning show page from their website. Any about what might happen?

Well, everyone's favorite Primary Editorial Voice (TM) over at the Mighty Blog o'Fun (TM) (http://ohiomedia.blogspot.com) last floated the idea of either (a) Trivisonno's move to FM mornings, or (b) Bob & Tom.A commentor to the MBoF (TM) said that the Bob & Tom story was truer than one could imagine and to expect news sooner rather than later...and that they weren't destined for WNCX.Take from that what you will.Me personally: it's a mistake to put Bob & Tom on WMMS. Too old. Unless WMMS is going classic rock (unlikely), the Bob & Tom demos are older than the rock audience. However, if they're trying to strike at those 25-54 men preemptively before WNCX gets their act in gear...it makes for a great idea.Downside: loss of a local morning show. Upside: experienced syndicated morning show.Downside: unless WNCX has something ready Monday, CBS once again falters. Upside: Clear Channel can parade around with a pseudo-success yet again.Downside: no one asked me to do a morning show. Upside: I don't have to get up at 3.30am.

FMQB has confirmed the Bob and Tom addition to the WMMS roster effective 26 June 2006..Thing was, the now former show was starting to jell..when they were on their game, they could actually be interesting at times...the only thing that seems a resonable explanation at this point is this a continuation of the cost cutting moves that first happened on WTAM..Since Bob and Tom prabably cost a little less than three live bodies who need insurance and such..Wonder how they work in Munch's sports segments now..no more mention of Hollywood the Intern's Double Ds..no more ''the only local rock morning show'' liners..Why not add ''Mancow'' or ''Lex and Terry'' if you're going to go syndicated in AM Drive?  Since WNCX seems in no particular hurry to announce a ''permanent'' replacement for DLR, is syndication an avenue they might explore yet again, or are they still committed to a ''local'' morning show?It also now means that the ''Greater Cleveland'' area now has the same morning show running on two different stations..since Rock 107 has had the same pair now for the last couple of years..to no great ratings success..

the fact that B & T is on WMMS and Rock 107 won't matter........canton listeners who want B and T will stay with rock 107.....Bob and Tom probably should have been in cle some time ago......but the 'MMS folks get trying to put a morning show together......no matter what market...that is no small feat....so bob and tom helps WMMS mornings ( it really will) but you then need to examine the recycling to other day parts to determoin whether wmms will need to adjust it's music or not......

I agree it won't matter..that was not the point..the point is that the choice of morning shows is getting smaller both in Cleveland and in outlying markets with the move WMMS made this week..Great...now I can listen to Bob and Tom on two radio stations..yippiee!I'm wondering how much of the audience in Cleveland will just shift over to Rover, once and for all, and be done with it..Bob and Tom may attract an older male demo for the Buzzard, but their younger numbers, who want some music as part of the show, which the recently cast off WMMS show did use, will likely go elsewhere..How many times you can hear Bob and Tom laugh at the Blue Collar Tour guys, or at whatever comic they bring in, on a daily basis..How will listeners react when Bob and Tom, based in Indianapolis, start singing the praises of Payton Manning during their sports casts? Last time I checked, 'MMS was still the flagship for the Browns..I'm also wondering if the delay in putting together a morning show at WNCX hinges on what CBS will actually pay to get it accomplished..could that be finally what the holdup is? How many ''theme weeks'' can you actually do?I'm wondering if somebody in New York will finally put a halt to the whole thing..and Adam Corella appears at some point..

you raise an interesting point about wncx.....makes you wonder if they are holdng off because they are re thinking OR have someone interested in buying the cle cluster from cbs..( no rumor starting folks...just an observation).

re BOB and TOM......they will work from WMMS....and the listeners who leave wmms mornings ( couldn't have been that many or this change wouldn't have been made) will come back ...

Hmmmmmm.....

Somebody better tell Bob, Tom and Chick about their working from Cleveland...as they've all bought homes in Indy in the past year....might come as news to them.....

Now that Indy's on Eastern time, I can't see them moving ANYWHERE. Unless it might be to, say, Topeka....to allow the show to be heard 6-10 eastern AND mountain, with the extra hour.......
