WMMS's Future...

It won't be Spanish, since CC putting Spanish is becoming more of a downfall, but CC's now goin' in the adult hits bandwagon...

100.7 WMMS could become adult hits as Drew FM, since Drew Carey's from Cleveland. If 100.7 dumps active rock, you can still listen to alternative WXTM for your new rock fix. Then WONE-FM could convert to mainstream rock by adding more currents (even hard-edged content, which includes metal).

Aw geez...here we go again....

Although I'll give ya the Drew thing (good idea, although CC might need to seek permission from Drew Carey if a station in this town were to decide to use his likeness), BUT...what makes you think that there are any plans to flip WMMS?

Because of ONE bad trend(!!!!)????

Nothing is wrong with WMMS (regardless of those with constant axes to grind with them and/or Clear Channel or the people at WXTM who have yet to beat them).

CC's already got a station they can pretty much tweak to adult hits, IF they chose. It's just up the dial to the right.

I can't wait until the book comes out...the assuming will be in overdrive. Please people...use SOME common sense will ya?

I was in Cleveland over the weekend. I'll say this...both WMMS and WXTM are on top of their game right now, as far as big rock stations go. For one thing, they're both throwing in stuff from years ago that most stations won't touch. For example, WMMS playing Nearly Lost You by the Screaming Trees, or some of the deep cuts by bands like Soundgarden (as opposed to the two songs in every AOR-By-Numbers playlist). I'm sure it's different for Pop formats, but Rock stations don't lose listeners by playing non-single tracks in steady rotation. WEBN was #1 in Cincinnati for a long time doing exactly that, and not very long ago either.

And to reiterate a WONE thread above - neither station feels the need to fall back on Green Day's "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" twice an hour just because it's the first rock song to break into the usually all-urban "Top 5 Singles" bracket since 1999.
