WMNI Radio

I'm surprised WMNI doesn't make any use of the call letters in promoting the station.  NI=News & Information.  MNI= Most News & Information, or My News & Information.  Of course I'm even more surprised they don't dump the format already, although posters have theorized as to reasons why they might be holding off on changing anything yet.

Saga has quite a few successful rock stations in other markets. They would probably have to sell off a couple rimshots if they were to buy the Nabco cluster. 104.3 and 107.9 would probably be sold to EMF to get them. 104.3 could be K love while 107.9 could be Air1 that way they won't be in full competition with 104.9 The River.

If Saga bought Nabco they would only have to divest one FM. That would leave them with 5 FMs like CC.

I could see them divesting 104.3 if they did purchase NABCO's Cluster. 104.3 would make sense for EMF -- They have 98.7 in Crestline and 90.3 Dayton and this would give them a nice in-between signal :)

The Last thing i would want to see is anyone in this market buying more stations, we need new blood from outside to come in and shake things up some. the saga plan you talk about would just create another Clear Channel in the market and more Boring radio.

Well let's see folks, in other markets listeners complain quite a bit about Cumulus stations. Cox won't buy any radio stations here unless they can get a TV station and a newspaper. And I don't know if Entercom would be interested in Columbus. I'd say if Saga did buy the Nabco cluster and they only have to invest 1 FM signal it would probably be 104.3. But I also think they would sell 920AM after they purchase it since they got rid of WVKO a decade ago for 107.9.

I strongly agree that outside blood would be the best, especially if it's a quality operator like Entercom, Emmis or Greater Media.  And now that the economy is improving and some companies are cautiously starting to talk about possible acquisitions, that's become more of a possibility.  That said, I'd still bet that it will unfortunately be a local operator that picks up the Nabco stations if they sell.  But even more unfortunately, I have a feeling they won't sell.

I think you have to look at the acquisition as needing to be a strategic acquisition. Which lends itself to some existing operating buttoning up weaknesses in signals. An outside operator would need enter not only to get a foothold but also hold hope of additional acquisition. Outside of 99.7, you're buying an although once proud compromised AM signal and a peanut whistle rimshot. Hardly a bastion of strength from which to compete.

Just reverse the AM to the format it had before all-news. The FM might consider classic country depending on if K95.5 becomes a sports station.

And when I say classic country, I mean the format 95.5 had as The Hawk. Not the way they do it now as K95.5, with one or two classic songs an hour. That's why their ratings have dropped, because they ditched the classic country.

OK Bill, now justify this financially...Classic Country (or Country Legends) attracts a largely male audience largely over the age of 55. If it doesn't work financially for the original oldies format (which attracts the same audience), how would this be a big financial success for 103.9?
