WMNI split, rebranded

I gave 103.9 HD2 a brief listen this morning... sounds like it's only a refresh of the playlist to move towards a more desirable (younger) demographic. Essentially the same format, just dropping older songs and adding newer. It's definitely not a station I see myself listening to (too sleepy). I wish Jack would have returned on 95.1/103.9 HD2.

Side note: NABCO is now in the latest rating numbers: Radio Industry News, Radio Show Prep, Radio Promotions, Radio Station Data, Podcast News

Looks like all of their stations are basement dwellers in the overall numbers. With an identity, The Blitz has a good opportunity but it feels like they're all over the place, musically speaking. Their lack of HD is also frustrating because it sounds like low fidelity compared to my other presets. Columbus is missing a 90s grounded grunge/Alt Rock format that is doing well in other markets (See KTBZ-Houston, recently #2 overall and a model station for this format). As a 44 year old, the classic rock and metal songs on Blitz are instant tune-out songs. If I wanted to hear those, I'd listen to another station and 105.7 is "too alternative-y" for my liking. QFM is stuck in the 70s and not moving their music selection up fast enough, but I guess it's working for them since they're up there in the rankings.

Since moving here 4 years ago, none of the stations in Columbus can keep my ears locked and I've resorted mostly to out of market stations or Spotify.

Just noticed NABCO back in the public rating view. Blitz seems to be holding well but it will be interesting to see how 95.1 does with the break off from WMNI. I expect both 95.1/WJKR HD-2 and 920 to be bottom feeders. Country 103.9 has not been on air long enough to make any real traction. Will be interesting to see how it does by fall or winter. I suspect their real goal is to knock a few pegs off WCOL-FM which no doubt it's doing.
