I don't think it's been on in the last 5. I've heard Lexington do 3 format changes since WNPZ was last on the air

EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES
WNPZ WAS FORCED TO GO SILENT DUE TO A FAILED TRANSMITTER AND OTHER TRANSMISSION EQUIPMENT. THE STATION PREVIOUSLY WAS OFF THE AIR FOR A PERIOD FOLLOWING RECEIPT OF LETTER DECISION OF THE DEPUTY CHIEF, AUDIO DIVISION, MEDIA BUREAU, 1800B3-SS DATED JUNE
20, 2017, WHICH DISMISSED WNPZS LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION AND CANCELLED THE STATIONS LICENSE UNTIL AFTER THE STATION'S LICENSE WAS REINSTATED ON JUNE 6, 2019. FOLLOWING THE PERIOD OF SILENCE, THE LICENSEE EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTIES WITH THE TRANSMISSION EQUIPMENT WHEN IT RETURNED TO OPERATION AND WAS FORCED TO AGAIN GO SILENT ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2019. DUE TO A FAILURE OF COMMUNICATION ABOUT THE SITUATION, THE LICENSEE INADVERTENTLY OVERLOOKED THE NEED TO FILE AN STA REQUEST AT THE TIME THE DIFFICULTIES DEVELOPED.

No FM translator, Day-Timer, relatively high AM frequency, unless there is some kind etheric programing opportunity or paid religious programing the only way I can see any future is some kind of narrow format that nobody is doing in Knoxville.
If they were serious I am sure they could pick an decent used transmitter really cheap.

If they can somehow find a way to get a translator, then many formats could work. It tight, but look at other markets. They might be able to squeeze in something even it's not from sharps ridge.
If I had the money, I would try to buy it or Lma it and run my internet station I've been doing for several years on it. With a translator of course.
