FCC grants permit to move WSRW FM out of Hillsboro
FM channel moving to Chillicothe, possibly as early as next month; WSRW AM 1590 will continue to be based in Hillsboro
The Times-Gazette
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted a construction permit to Clear Channel to move WMRN, 106.9 FM in Marion to Dublin, on an assigned frequency of 106.7 FM, Dan Latham, vice president and market manager for Clear Channel-Southern Ohio, told The Times-Gazette Wednesday.
In order to accommodate the move, Latham said, the FCC has also granted Clear Channel a construction permit to move WSRW FM from Hillsboro to Chillicothe and change the frequency to 106.5 at a transmitter tower location in Chillicothe.
Latham said the current WSRW programming will be combined with WCHO FM 105.5 and will be broadcast from a tower location near the Highland-Fayette County line, and will be heard in Hillsboro and Highland County.
WSRW AM 1590 will continue to be based in Hillsboro.
"We're going to combine WCHO and WSRW and continue to provide service for Highland County," Latham said.
The change will result in a lower-powered frequency for the local radio station, he said.
As reported earlier in The Times-Gazette, Clear Channel, the parent company of WSRW Radio, had petitioned the FCC in Washington, D.C. to amend the commission's FM Table of Allotments - a database listing of frequencies - in 2002.
The expected date for the move of locations is expected in mid-November.
No format has been announced for the station moving to Chillicothe.
According to the FCC, the permit was granted Oct. 5 and continues until Oct. 5, 2010.
