WMRO 1560 gone missing for quite some time...

There was a rash of storms a few months ago, so I'd figured they might be off a few days for repairs, but it's going on 2 and a half months I think that I've heard nothing but static on 1560. Are they in STA or has the license been given back to the FCC?

I don't know how bad a break that really is. Per the link, he reaches 95% of the city of license, Gallatin, and then is where his revenue comes from, so he runs from home, no tower lease and less of an electric bill, at least for now.

Tough break for Scott, but you may well be right on expenses. I wonder what he will do when it's time to get back on the FCC plan with approved towers. He used to be a frequent part of this board.

Seems like the old "tree falling in the forest" analogy applies here. If a station that no one is listening to loses power (or goes off the air) will anyone notice? Granted, I can't pick them up from where I live anyway, but surprising that it took over two months to get a mention here.

It hasn't been quite two months. I was able to receive it in Lafayette until about a month ago. In fact, changes had been in progress at least since this Summer. I've been tracking it since the STA was filed thanks to another broadcaster who alerted me to it, but I already knew something was going on.

Storms that passed through there in late-July may have knocked it off, but it wasn't immediate. On July 24th, it was off and back on the next day. Since then, it has been transmitting near the full licensed power, if not the full licensed power* until the facility was moved.

*based on signal strength given for the area I live in historically.
