Classic Oldies WMTR New Jersey has been streaming live for the past week or so. Sounding great - much better that RLL with all of their "rat-pack" stuff thrown in.

Give it a listen at wmtram.com

Even the talk programming isnt that bad - and the sound quality isnt half bad.

I kinda prefer the other station out of Northern NJ, oldies1360.com
Max Kinkel does their morning show, and the music mix is better.

Agreed. Even though I can receive WMTR, I really don't listen much. I can only make it through two or three songs before some song comes on that I don't want to hear. But, it has been said that WMTR will be making changes to the playlist, so hopefully, I won't say the same thing in a few weeks! Oldies 1360 is a GREAT station! The playlist reminds me of the old WWMG, "Magic 96.1" in Charlotte last year around this time!

WMTR and WNNJ are 2 different types of oldies stations. WMTR is "classic oldies" from the '50's early '60's much like the format WSAI had, while WNNJ is more "mainstream oldies". Both are programmed well, it's a matter of which era you prefer.

I like the MaxMan on NNJ, but like the imaging and the older mix of WMTR better at times.<P ID="signature">______________

I remember in the early nineties in Phoenix, there was KOOL AM and FM. KOOL AM was almost all pre-Beatles and KOOL-FM was late sixties. I don't think they even played songs from 1970.

I liked that choice and KOOL AM was able to go out by satellite to around fifty other cities on other stations.

Right... For people who pine for the old sound of WCBS, with a mix of 50s & 70s, then WNNJ would probably be the more preferable option. Add in a former CBS jock in mornings...

A few years ago, I recorded some airchecks of KOOL-Gold from his website.

I'm listening now. EXCELLENT!

Why don't we have a station like this in the Miami market?
