WMTX is now halfway to Jack

Their slogan is now "Tampa Bays best and biggest variety". It's essentually what they have been playing during their "whatever weekends" all the time now. Don't get me wrong, I like what their doing but they are still burning out the currents.

I do like their (MTX)approach to the variety hits format as opposed to smart-alecky Jack approach. I've listened to the Jack format in Seattle and New York and the recorded voice throughout the day is annoying.

100.7 has kept its "Tampa" feel, thank God.

I think they said that they are playing ''whatever'' all month. What happens at the end of the month ? almost looks like ''whatever'' could be here to stay on 100.7

I would hope CC is too smart to go jockless. Tampa has Cox with one jock on the Dove, and 2 on the Eagle and the Point. Listening to the same voice drone over and over about the "new___________" really insults the listener. Whatever may be wrong with CC, at least they don't do that here, yet.

This could be a good move for them... I think to make a success of it though it will have to be loosely formatted (not totally random like some of the Jacks are) i.e. not straying to far away from the Hot AC/AC format, and will not include too many 'novelty' records - playing things like Barbie Girl, and Ice Ice Baby regularly is certainly going to turn me off Mix, and I've been a big listeners in the last year or so. Good move to move the workday hosts forward to 9am too, but Shriner's shift is currently 9am-3pm according to the website!! But it does have the look of a good variety hits station... will be interesting to listen to developments.<P ID="signature">______________

It's October and anyone that has worked at CC Tampa knows "things happen" beginning in October and then wrap up just before the holidays. On a side note, if I were running Mix, now is not the time to stray to far from the AC format or ailenate your core audience. The "NEW" Magic is sure to go Christmas music by Thanksgiving leaving Mix as a viable alternative for AC music.

One thing I can say about Ja-- um..I mean 'Mix'. Unlike COX , I won't hear the same set of songs coming home from work at night as I did on my way TO work in the mornings...

As long as 100.7 doesn't burn out those recurrents, theyll be fine. I don't mind the new stuff as well. Just enough of an edge to the currents....

Is Mix still running Casey Kasem on Saturday mornings? I know when they first added it they ran the AC version but quickly changed over to the Hot AC version.
