WMUU about to get stronger

Like its signal isn't massive enough already. WMUU has a construction permit to elevate their stick another 288 feet. No change in power. So now the signal will become clearer in cities like Hickory, NC and Rock Hill.

I disagree.

Despite all the posts about how WGBT Greensboro has had numerous unsuccessful formats because of their signal, all I ever hear now when I try to pick up WMUU is Spanish. So has WGBT done something?

I forget the EXACT terminology -- tropo; ducting; something like that -- but there's a seasonal atmospheric phenomenon that begins wreaking havoc (or pleasure if you're TRYING to hear the offending signal) on FM signals from now until early Fall. And...it is typically worse in the morning hours. Here in Morganton(NC) this time of year, I begin getting interference favoring central and coastal NC signals.

So, if you've just begun to notice WGBT's interference, it may not be their fault but the atmosphere's.

Eric

I've noticed it for quite some time, actually.

And I know the problem. I used to hear WRDU when I wanted to hear WNMX.

It doesn't matter anyway. My car radio is off the air.
