WMUU changing to talk

It was secular during the day except on Sunday but had Christian messages sprinkled in.

For good Christian music (my idea of good Christian music), some people in Greenville, SC will still have WYFG, though as a BBN affiliate it has a lot of talk rather than playing music pretty much all the time.

I remember WMUU streaming online, even as I was first using the Web around 1996. They stopped 94.5-streaming for a while, but resumed a few years ago.

I have no idea when Salem talk will begin, but for those of you who wondered what Beautiful Music FM sounded like in the 1960s but were too young to remember, be sure to check out wmuu.com , until the talk begins.

I will miss them...they were truly the last of their kind. And I'll be honest....I keep forgetting they were still available!

My understanding is that Salem plans to keep streaming the current music format online after the change to mainstream political talk.

^ Didn't know that, but there certainly could be an adjustment in the music if Salem is in control of the streaming.

I hope that the stream will emphasize something like "Remember the days of easy listening radio?" or something similar.

I doubt if they'll go full CCM, but could they end up sprinkling in what was considered soft CCM in the 70's and 80's (Sandi Patti, Steve Green, etc., still easy listening in my view at that time) and would really be considered easy listening now? Of course some people would have a fit even if that happened. ::)

Needs to be the old format, Salem talk needs to be on AM or Streamed.
I would have said put the talk on WMUU-AM, which is currently off the air, but then that station doesn't have a nighttime signal to speak of.

A great idea would be to put the daytime beautiful music on the AM, since it wouldn't be played at night anyway. True, there'd be less in the winter but there would be more in the summer to make up for it.

BJU sold WMUU-AM several years ago. It was taken silent last year for financial reasons, though.

I know it was sold, but I'm wondering if a way can be found to do this.

Once you're out of range of WHLC, the market is pretty much a wasteland. Unless you count WYFG when they happen to be playing music.

I have now a preset in my car and truck on WMUU 94.5, and check it occasionally to see if Salem has taken over yet. Everytime I hear them, I imagine I am sitting in a dentist chair getting ready for the old drill! It's like flashing back to the old WLOS-FM from Asheville, one of the best beautiful music stations of all time.
