WMVE-FM Chase City 90.1

Apparently after barely making the deadline for the CP, WMVE-FM is on in Chase City. Just want to know:

1) How's the signal? What type of range can you get on it?
2) Also, what tower are they transmitting from? The old WFXQ tower?

Thanks,

Radio-X

Well, I drove I-85 north and south through the area during the holidays. At first I couldn't believe I had picked up WMVE--they were playing Christmas hymms---rather unusual for an NPR station. WMVE carries pretty well toward the south---good strong signal from south of Henderson. But to the north, the station fades out very quickly--hardly anything left after Alberta, and the main WCVE signal was also almost non-existant there. Coming back south, I switched from WMVE about ten miles south of Henderson. The signal was still strong, but I was tired of the Christmas cantada WMVE/WCVE was playing. Again, strange programming for an NPR!

Are you sure that was WMVE you were hearing? WZRU is the NPR station in Roanoke Rapids and it's on 90.1 as well, but with an Easy Listening format and not Classical like WMVE...
