That explains it then. I picked them up last night exceptionally well in central Iowa. Signal fair to moderate with little interference. Usually they're in there..but exceptionally hard to copy. What is they're temporary night power?

I'm currently getting WMVP better than WLS (it's fighting with something in Spanish) in Memphis, and there's a local on 990! Normally it's pretty hard to get WMVP, and tonight there's no problem.

Present as usual here in Columbus, Ohio, but not quite as strong. Even with weakened power, you can't hear anything else on 1000.
To an earlier poster, you can get WMVP in central Iowa? I thought the null was supposed to kill signal in your direction.

I probably should have phrased differently. I meant, 1000 can be heard in central Iowa when it is directional?

When they are directional with 50kW..yes..you can hear them....but with a lot of other signals. The civilians wouldnt put up with the noise but us radio geeks like that sort of stuff. Sort of like I can 'hear' KFAB at night..but its too noisey to actually listen to. Icould listen to it but my wife would say "get something we can hear!!!'

WMVP operating directional?

I was visiting family and friends in Naperville this weekend and about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, 1000 sounded as if it's broadcasting its normal pattern from the normal towers. I could hear the signal phasing in and out as I drove up Washington Street across town, and if it was non-directional from WLS' site I shouldn't have heard any appreciable change in signal.
So is WMVP on WLS' towers yet or is it still broadcasting from Downers Grove?
