WMVP has a strange artifact

For the past few weeks I've noticed a strange artifact on WMVP. Every so often, the modulation will trigger a metallic sounding "wang" that lasts for maybe a second or two. It is generally more noticeable if you tune off to one side or the other just a bit. I noticed it while listening to CBW (990) at night. Once you are familiar with what it sounds like, you can center tune and still hear it.

Does anybody have any idea what is causing this? Audio processing glitch? Some kind of digital compression artifact? Transmitter spurious?

I'm betting Tom Wells will have an idea about it.

Heard that when RF gets into the input of the audio processor. If it's digital, the slight delay will give the audio a strange flanging effect and the "feed back" may 5 to 10 KHz and show up in the sidebands.

I hadn't heard it, and just noticed this thread.
I was listening to them yesterday and did not notice anything sounding unusual.

Tom,

They fixed it a few weeks ago (thankfully), although I do hear some strange stuff from time to time that's probably program related. This was constant.
