WMWK CP

CP to move from the Channel 6 tower (??? I think its the WITI tower) at 170 watts to Waukesha County between Waukesha and New Berlin at 1,000 watts.

291 M ND
to 163 M D

If anything it'll fill in Racine/Kenosha/Walworth Counties better then it does currently. Same with Waukesha County <P ID="signature">______________

This must be the same tower as The Fish.

According to the FCC's service contour map, WMWK's signal will be poor in Kenosha, Walworth and Racine counties.

I wonder how loyal an audience that station has. Of what little I know of them, they don't seem to have any contact with the local community. Plus, with the VCY power house, I wonder just how successful Family Radio is here. What I'd love to see happen, and this probably wouldn't, is that some frequency at that end of the dial could become an outlet of EWTN Global Catholic Radio. That isn't a knock on Relevant Radio, but they are clearly separating themselves from EWTN. So many of the EWTN programs that use to run on RR have been discontinued by RR. If Milwaukee can have 6 Protestant stations, I don't think it should be a big deal to have two Catholic stations. I'm not saying that this is fesible, but this is what I'd like to see happen.

Family Radio (Like many other Christian/non profit networks) don't really need to have any contact with the local community since they are satellite based. Calvary Chapel's network is another example.

WMWK has been Family Radio for as long as I can remember. I highly doubt it would wind up going EWTN. However K-Love or Air 1 (or even Calvary Chapel) is possible if Family Stations ever decided to sell it.

For a time, Milwaukee did have all EWTN after Catholic Radio Network (Heard on 540 WZER) began their shut down process.

On another unrelated note, I'd like to hear a music show on Relevant Radio like Catholic Radio Network's show "Catholic Jukebox" which ran at 5PM.

Starboard WAS planning on running some catholic contempoary music on the network, I think it was SUPPOSE to start in 2004 or early 2005... but it never did! I think its still something they want to do, but who knows when.

Also you mentioned Calvary Chapel is not all satelite based, most of their translator reboradcast the satelite, but all or most of the full power affiliates are locally ran. For example WJWD/Marshall, whose studios are in Fall River sells some underwriting in the community and has some community volenteers come in to voicetrack programming. The local stations have a lot of choice over what programming to carry and do more recording progrmas off satelite to air at a different time than actually carry satelite live. I used to volenteer there, and its great to see a lot of locally produced programming rather than a station sitting on the bird 24/7.
