So now....

Majic 102.7 has an HD2, the "Majic Hall of Fame," the older oldies than 102.7 plays now. Much 1950s & early 60s, even something from "Sgt Pepper" by the Beatles.

HD3, as I said before, is //WAXY 790.

cd

Just checked it out.
HD-2 is there but not HD-3.
They are adding these services rather late(ly).
I need to check these things more often

Forgive me for monopolizing this thread, but they (Majic, Jr.) just reminded me of something I had all but forgotten,
that the Isley Brothers actually covered a Beatles song back in the day,
Twist and Shout.

Covered? Isleys (1962) was the original. Isley's T&S might be one of the few pre-Beatles tunes that the regular Majic still plays.

Oops!
Uh right, I meant I was reminded that the Beatles version was not the original.

102.7 HD2's format sounds like what WAXY - 106 was doing when RKO took over in 1973. It was Drake Classic Gold. 1950-1964 just before the British invasion (Beach Boys but no Beatles). Those were the days. What I didn't know about Oldies I learned at WAXY-106!!!

They need Rick Shaw on HD2. That would be cool.

Maybe, but I'm almost positive that this is a non-commercial stream, and the title/artist is displayed on the RDS.

I am sure ol' Ricky Ticky is quite happy with just announcing the things-to-do-in-South-Florida once an hour....

Any online stream for HD2? Even radiotime doesn't know about this, aparently.

Heck----even Majic's site lists nothing of it!!

I'm sure that'll change shortly.

Nah, most commercial stations' websites completely ignore their HD subchannels.
Only the public stations actively promote them.

Sunny 104.3's site will take ya to their HD2 stream. Also, the Majic DJs have their taped voices on the HD2. Funny how it has been so hush hush.

Well, it's our secret in So Fla.

Spoke on the phone this past Monday with Bill Stedman, Program Director at Majic, about the HD-2 station streaming. He told me that right now they are not, but could be in the future since they are experimenting with the HD-2 station right now to see how it plays out.

I don't know what is being experimented with. What we would like streamed is the 50's/60's format Majic is now presenting.

Not speaking for WMXJ, but maybe the HD 2 and/or 3 won't be cost effective....WRMA Romance 106.7 dropped the HD altogether. The DXer in me wouldn't miss any or all SoFla stations dropping HD; it'd free the adjacent frequencies! :)

I don't frequent the HD Radio board much, but I've yet to be convinced of HD's wonderful advances to radio.....I don't think there's much support of it on that board.
