WMXJ - OFFICIAL RICK SHAW REPLACEMENT ANNOUNCED!!!

From allaccess.com:

Bruce Kelly To Replace Rick Shaw In Miami

This marks his return to terrestrial radio, as well as to MIAMI, where he worked at one-time Top 40 96X and also WHYI (Y100). KELLY begins MAY 14, following a huge listener appreciation party for SHAW that will take place at GULFSTREAM PARK on FRIDAY, MAY 11, to benefit THE MAJIC CHILDREN’S FUND.

MAJIC has a history of retaining employees for the long term. Much of their on-air and support staff have worked at the station for 10 to 20 years, a rarity in radio.

So Rick is retiring?? I lived in South Florida in the early 80's, and remember him on WAXY. A real class act.

Yes, Rick is officially retiring. When WAXY spun the format wheel (1994) to WBGG, Rick got the gig at Majic 102.7. Though rumors are speculating Majic to change to a "Movin" format, it doesn't appear that "would" happen due to Bruce Kelly taking the airwaves.

Rumors are CC is looking to spin the format wheel come January 08 - The station that would flip will go all christmas in November. Which station is it? My guess is WMGE - MEGA 94.9 as their ratings have shown no change since they started on air when ZETA was dropped.

I hung out with Bruce on Saturday nite at the 96X Reunion. He's really psyched about coming back to South Florida. I had the privlage to work with Bruce at the original 96X in 1980 & what was left for us in 1981. Yes, there are some pretty big shoes to fill with Rick Shaws exit, but honestly, if anyone can do it...and a ton of people went for the job......Bruce can do it! ;D

THE NEXT CHAPTER AT WMXJ's MORNING SHOW STARTS MONDAY MORNING MAY 14th

Stuart Elliot! I remember you in the early 90's when I first moved to South Florida (from NY like everyone else)-- You were partiming at Y100. Sunday nights specifically!

Yes indeed it was I doing a couple weekend nights, including my favorite Sunday 8p-12m. If it wasn't for that time slot, i'd have never been able to pull off some of my greatest On Air Radio Pranks of all time!! Those stories......another time ;)

Anyone have an old WINZ top 40 chart with Ricky-Ticky and Cousin Brucie on it?? This would be from about 1960.
