WMYB Dropping A Star

If Myrtle Beach radio hasn't been changing enough. Star 92.1 will be rebranding as 92.1 lite fm and with a soft AC playlist getting away from the upbeat Hot AC. They will hurt Easy with many of the former Star listerns staying around. Also NextMedia plans to leave the djs and morning show the way they are. Only change will be the name and sound of the station.

Four One Press is the source meaning April fools. Would be a good thing if it happened, Star 92.1 is Hot AC by all means I remember when they used to say soft rock in the sweeps that was long time ago. Charleston still somewhat has a soft rock station with Y 102.5 which sounds like the old Sunny 96.9. As for Coulmbia isn't B 106.7 the soft rock station their?

B is pretty much AC, but it can morph into whatever it needs to be to go up against most stations..... Last week B was a stronger version of Steve FM since B and Steve were pretty much playing just about the same songs... CC1

B 106.7 sounds like a good AC similar to the way Sunny 96.9 sounded also both stations are owned by Citiadel Broadcasting. Also B sounds like the AC station where I grew up as B 106.7 airs the same image sweeps in between songs.

It's been the biggest format hole in the market for ages. Thank heavens.
Yes 94.5 filled it.

Apparently that didn't work. I don't think anyone has ever been successful with "Lite" AC in Myrtle Beach, possibly because of Joy 92 and Easy 105.9.

Maybe that's why 'MYB stays more Hot AC.

IMO, 94.5 should have stayed AC. MOViNs are dying everywhere. Too late in the ballgame. "Yes" was a horrible name for a radio station, though.

Movin 94.5 isn't the normal Movin station like Movin 99.7 out in San Francisco, CA. It seems 94.5 wants to be the same as Jammin 99.9 in Wilmington, NC which does well by the way not sure about demo.

As for AC I thought maybe Cumulus would of went that way when they were making all those changes. I still think Sunny 106.5 should of went that way. Then put Coyote on 98.5, KISS on 103.1 and Power 100.3
