WMYI 102.5 goes all-Christmas

This afternoon at 5:00, WMYI flipped the all-holiday switch. The website is already decorated...actually, they're late, as WBBQ/Augusta went all-Christmas a few days ago. WSPA is still "previewing."

Ho Ho Ho!
Magic 98.9 is ALL Christmas music....all the damn time.
Where is the CX button on this radio? :)

LOL - let me go burn a few more CDs and load the IPOD up more. Maybe I will listen to 103.1 if they have the satellite running some...Greenville/Spartanburg radio is such a joke! I guess the area is ready to hear "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree", "Christmas Shoes", and every version of "Sleigh Ride" ever recorded for the next 5 weeks. ::)

Also, WYKZ in Beaufort/Savannah, which covers most of the southern South Carolina coast, and is a sister station of My, also started Christmas music. It won't be long before WXLY flips the switch.

Times are very hard right now and maybe Christmas music will help some people feel better I hope, but I just can't play it early I have to wait till Thanksgiving eve at least or I would feel gulity about playing it too early.

As much as I love Christmas music, I have never totally understood the logic of playing it before Thanksgiving Day. Most stations I used to listen to never started until the day after Thanksgiving and when I was in college in the early 80's, I got really mad at some stations here in Columbia that started all Christmas music instead of sprkinkling it in because that took the joy out of it for me.

Lhsh, does WTCB ever go all-Christmas? They haven't, IIRC. I appreciate that they do that....here in Greenville there are TWO stations playing it. Insane!

Didn't Lite 96.7 used to go all-Christmas?

WTCB usually does about three days of all Christmas and then goes back to their normal programming of sprinkling it in and yest Lite 96.7 used to go all Christmas about the same time that WBBQ went all Christmas and I swear they were using the same play list or servers as well and it got a little monotonous flipping between them.

Lite 96.7 was virtually a mirror of WLYT/Charlotte, am I right? The logos were identical and I believe they basically sounded the same (WLYT much larger market, of course). Never impressed me when I heard it. I think they ran that syndicated morning show WXLY and WBBQ use. Not much money was invested.
Love how B106.7 retains the "local" feel and presentation. They are hard to top. You all don't have to put up with Delilah, Tesh...etc. It is truly a great station.

But...getting back to WMYI, anyone expecting any changes after the season is over? Maybe a (much needed) "freshening", especially after getting whooped by WSPA in the summer? Still hoping they do something with 96.7 (BZT) around Christmas/New Years here. Something needs to be done there.

myi suits my musical tastes better than spa. i think jmz is the only station that is dominant in the market. i would be careful to call summer a whooping for spa. it is arbitron and it is one book.
