WMYI 70s Weekends

I noticed WMYI is no longer doing the 70s weekends, at least as of now. They were still doing "the best mix" after 5PM, when they usually started.

Not a bad move, IMO. Too repetitive and it was just the "soft rock"/typical AC songs, which can be expected since they are an AC station.

one of the dee jays i heard today said the 70s would be back next weekend. as i went down the dial, i heard wspa playing a 70s song and then a dee jay trying to talk over the next song. all i could hear was the word request. i think wspa is pre recording too. a real dee jay would have known the music was too loud.

oh..oh well, this weekend was good why it lasted. I didn't hear any jazz this morning either, I guess that will return. Maybe they will start playing the same 80 songs all weekend instead of the 75 they were playing before Christmas.

Does anybody else think the WSPA 70s Saturday night is great? The variety is good, I rarely miss it. I listened to them a lot this weekend, they sound very good...maybe I just haven't heard them sounding 'regular' in a long time. The music was very enjoyable. I thought it sounded voicetracked too, it was hard to make out what Lee Alexander was saying at times. Those tags after each song REALLY need to go, though. Don't we all know who sings the songs by now?

FWIW, the 70s are back on 102.5. It's strange though, they were doing it yesterday until Delilah, then started it back over again at 6AM today, with the regular playlist between 12AM-6AM. Confusing. Must have been an error, why not just run it all weekend?

::)

i am guessing that deliah does not offer a 70's feed and they have to carry it. i guess they start at 5 on friday to own that image.

Agreed MarkSC.

Delilah is 7-12am....they didn't air any 70s between 12am-6am for some strange reason. I'm guessing it was some computer failure.

i happen to like wmyi music choice and think it is a good station. i'm not sure that there are enough listeners to matter from 12 til 6 on saturday mornings whether they are playing 70s or not. i didn't miss the 70s at 3am but apparently you did ;)

Did you miss it all last weekend when they were in regular format, because...who knows...the PD didn't have time to program it?

Gotta love Mediabase ;D

I noticed that Sunday Jazz is now 6AM-10AM. Has that just changed?? I've always enjoyed waking up to the jazz on Sunday mornings.
Apparently 12am-6am on weekends now is just the "biggest variety" stuff as usual. Seems to me it would be easier to just do solid 70s from 5PM Friday to 7PM Sunday (excluding Delilah and jazz) like they used to, but I guess late nights don't matter. I'm sure they have reasons.

70s are MIA on 102.5 again this weekend. They played love songs last weekend for V-Day. Just the regular playlist now. What's up? Do they not know consistency?

Hopefully they finally cut them out. Same old 70s songs all weekend....I will listen to them if it's the regular playlist. They have been sounding better lately it seems.
