WMYI's automation - this takes the cake!

Well this takes the cake. Since 12AM CC is running morning traffic -- yes, morning traffic from earlier yesterday talking about rush hour, commercials, jingles, morning liners, and salsa/cha cha background music on WMYI. What? I've never heard anything this ridiculous before. Used to NEVER happen.

How on earth does this PD keep her job? Is it so hard to keep this station running properly at 1am? I don't think the country stations ever have this. Who knows about 96.7. Sorry, even if it IS at 1am, in this day in age, there is no excuse for something like this to happen.

This was still happening around 4 am. Just commercials, traffic beds, and jingles back to back, with no music.

Last one out turn off the lights.

^ yep. The best thing still coming out of CC/G is the 100.5 morning show.

What on earth would cause this? Was nothing programmed or something? I would assume it went on til 5am when Love came in. They should just take advantage of the premium choice offerings by CC. Heck, even WLYT uses it.

Or WKQL, which was the first FM that came out of this frequency. Its counterpart in Charleston sounds decent, but after midnight and all weekend, it is mostly automated.

I have no idea honestly where the WMYI/WBZT PD even came from. All I know is the quality of these stations have gone down. Heck, I think an intern could do better with this automation thing.

i don't think an intern could do better. they just want free passes to concerts, station shirts, and probably think the deejays are dreamy. i would like to be a pro football player but i cant. i do like to criticize the ones i see on tv though. i salute the armchair programmers.

I can tell you with pretty good accuracy what happened. The music log(if one was created)was simply not loaded into the next-gen system. Without a music log the next-gen will only play what is there and that of course is the traffic log that would be nothing but commercials, traffic reports and promos. I'm sure it was a simple oversight...but there really is not much of an excuse for not loading in the music log.....imho this is what can possibly happen when you are unattended without any live bodies around. I'd be willing to bet it won't happen again.....just mere speculation on my part....

Is it just my radio, or has 102.5 sounded awful all day? It's extremely loud and over-modulation has been present at times all day. There's not even anybody there (or there paying attention) to fix it. This coupled with the awful signal quality north of downtown made it unlistenable.

I've tried several radios and they are definitely over-modulated or it's the transmitter/engineering part, one. Sound is very distorted on some songs. It's been going on since early Saturday. Nobody's checked the studio?
