WMYR Timeless Cool changing?

Sunday WMYR 1410 in Fort Myers went silent most of the day. Today it's a a similcast of a station in Wisconsin including Wisconson news, old weather forcast from last week and commercials for places in Wisconson. No Fort Myers IDs at hour top and liners saying 91.1 The Avenue.

The 1660 Avenue station in Naples still has local commercials. Looks like Timeless Cool might be coming to an end. What a shame nice idea poor execution.

Then how come they're still advertising the format on R-I as soon as last week?

No. There was a massive meltdown of the feed between Naples and Ft. Myers and the only alternative was the out-of-market feed. It may still take a day or two more to straighten it out.

You know, I never heard WMYR as a Top-40...

I didn't hear WMYR as a Top 40 station very much, but I do remember it booming into Leesburg at night after co-channel WZST-AM 1410 Leesburg signed off the air. Back in the 1970s WMYR cooked.

Wisdom on the street says the company has money problems. Now Monday morning two of the jocks are gone, Bobby and Ruby. No explanation.

They are supposedly trying to "upgrade" the talent, and give the TC format a major push. Don't think money is an issue.

I worked across the trailer from WMYR when it was top 40, spinnin cue burned 45s and getting all the attention from the then owners Robert and Kathy Hecksher. First gig that taught me alot about what not to do on the radio

With all due respect to anyone here connected to the stations, why, out of the blue, does WMYR and it's sisters suddenly all start going off the air or the programing screw up? They arn't even in the same cities or in the case of, 1480 even have the same programing. Despite excuses we are making it's been what, three or four weeks now that this has been going on? It's my opinion that is way too long to fix even a bunch of things. Today, 1660 was off the air again. Saturday 1410 ran two programs over each other for over a half hour. Where is everybody running those stations?

They brought in an out-of-market engineer and he decided to re-do the studio, with many electronic casualties as a result.
Guess the stream was one.

Wasn't going to comment because this is old news with these guys but just when you thought it couldn't get worse, 1660 on Marco is now nothing but a carrier with a crackle. Has been all week. Occasionally, programing can be heard under the buzz and hiss not enough to listen to. Then last night I heard 94.5 Arrow on 1660. This morning back to crackle. The other AM on Marco, 1480, is gone now too. No carrier or nothing all week.

Why would they keep 1660 on to play a noise? Where is 1480? and what is the name of the big shot engineer that did this? I wanna be sure I don't ever hire him!

Please refer to my last post. The guy came in and thoroughly messed up the Marco stations. 1480 is off because no one cares to turn it back on.
Believe me, it is a mess.
Any names will be given privately.

I checked out ratings in Ft Meyers/Naples and noticed that these stations were nowhere to be seen. It's a shame as they seemed to offer something no one else was doing down there. If they go away it'll be a shame.

Myers, not "Meyers"...

Does anybody notice 1410 in Leesburg FL coming in over the top of WMYR after dark in Fort Myers? They have a crazy all ladies format and are easy to identify. It can be heard well in Cape Coral from sundown on.

Radio Locator says Leesburg powers back to 65 watts at night so it shouldn't be heard at all in Lee County right? I actually heard this station while driving in Fort Myers stepping all over WMYR just about every night a month or so back.

WQBQ-AM 1410 Leesburg is licensed for 5kw-NDD and 90 watts NDN. Most likely the reason WQBQ is bleeding over co-channel WMYR at night is because WQBQ may not be powering down at sunset; hence remaining at its full 5kw-NDD pattern all night. If this is the case, it will most definately cause nighttime interference problems with WMYR.

'QBQ is owned by Rama. They consider FCC regulations optional.
