I was wondering whether anyone else had notcied that WNAK has completely foregone standards. I listen fairly often just to see what's up. And this station has become a 70-based AC-oldies outlet. Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Vic Damone, Steve and Eydie are for all intents and purposes gone -- replaced by Three Dog Night, the Main Ingredient, Danny O'Keefe and, yes, Chic. The closest thing to a "standard" I've heard of late is Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife," which is also an oldies staple. I suppose managment considers it a smart business move, to try to get the demos down from 65-plus. And considering the numbers they're pulling, I guess it is. But just as with New York, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton market now has no place to turn if you want to hear standards.
