Is WNAK on CRACK? What the ^$*%& is WNAK doing to wreck their ratings? The programmer must be on CRACK!

Well, to start with, firing the person who took them from the graveyard to #5 is a good way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The station was right on the money then someone had the brainfart to be younger I guess. What a way to wreck what was great. Next they will be doing hip hop!

Well, unfortunately, the words "loyalty" and "thanks"
are not in the vocabulary of one Mr. Ira Rosenwatshisname
and other radio CEOs. Come to think of it, reality is not in their veins either. There's a reason why real companies, the ones that make stuff
don't give them management positions.

I was wondering whether anyone else had notcied that WNAK has completely foregone standards. I listen fairly often just to see what's up. And this station has become a 70-based AC-oldies outlet. Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Vic Damone, Steve and Eydie are for all intents and purposes gone -- replaced by Three Dog Night, the Main Ingredient, Danny O'Keefe and, yes, Chic. The closest thing to a "standard" I've heard of late is Bobby Darin's "Mack the Knife," which is also an oldies staple. I suppose managment considers it a smart business move, to try to get the demos down from 65-plus. And considering the numbers they're pulling, I guess it is. But just as with New York, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton market now has no place to turn if you want to hear standards.

Ahh....The PERSON who took them from the graveyard to #5 was Roger Heidt, and he is STILL there.

Maybe they can switch to a real winner format like Sports in the AM.

I still hear a lot of standards done by the usual suspects. But there's quite a bit of newer stuff sprinkled in there and I don't care for a lot of it.
______________

If Margie didn't do it... ??

I posted:
>>>Well, to start with, firing the person who took them from the graveyard to #5 is a good way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.<<<

And you replied with:
>>>The PERSON who took them from the graveyard to #5 was Roger Heidt.<<<

So I raise the question: It sure seemed to me that Margie had a lot on the ball when I spoke with her (in person or on the phone). Not that Roger doesn't; but he wasn't the person sent up there to bring Lazarus out of the tomb. At least, not as far as I know. What does Roger have that Margie did not? Or what did Roger do that Margie was not doing? Or will the next move be Roger, over and out? (I just had to work that in, sorry.)

Basically, what's going on down there??

Brainfart!

It has been so long since I heard anyone use the term "brainfart".
I believe it has hit epidemic proportions in the valley.
Screw avian flu...they suffer from a form of "brainfart".

with love, PA_RoyDio!

This guy is so ignorant, he thinks he knows what's going on in that company...and that he's going to have anything to do with anything 30 days from now. He couldn't even identify who was responsible for that station's success.

Re: If Margie didn't do it... ??

I'm confused, who took what out of what basement? Don't ya think the MAJOR thing that helped WNAK was the FM? Not much was changed on the format that caused their success besides it being switched to FM. How many of you listened to it, or better yet cared about it when it was just AM? Maybe it should be smooth jazz :)

WNAK, formerly in the top 3 when Bob Neilson had more energy, had slipped horribly. It was no longer running well and had lost much of what made it good. When the new management came in, they gave the place new sparkle, began doing remotes, ballgames, introduced news and weather, etc. Got some new programming blocks for the weekend. Gave the place new life. The acquisition of the FM signal helped in the upper counties. I listened to it in the AM days and I still listen to it.
______________

You See? This is what I meant about the childish personal attacks on people. We can't talk about jocks, we can't talk about formats, we can't talk about companies without someone resorting to playground tactics.

Like see-sawing point of views on NAK... first their too old... now too young... maybe if they dropped the power on the AM to 20 watts and run sports in the AM everyone would just RAVE about it

Though I'm not positive "that guy" works for "that company".

I am. He works for their Hazleton station using the name Rocky Brown, and he comes on this board all the time spewing negative charisma and bashing people...mostly me.
