It's really sad. Route 81 radio came on strong and now they are only a shadow of what they could have been. In Hazleton, WAZL started out strong. They had a lot of local presence, and they would actually report on news, not just read it from the paper. Their news had substance and I saw them all the time around town. Now their news consists of a few bits from the top stories from a news guy who also works for their other stations. It seems like in the beginning, Route 81 really wanted their AM's to be locally oriented, and then when they realized it would cost a few dollars, they jettisoned the idea like every other station seems to do.
