WNAR 1620 AM Lansdale

The last few days on my wifi radio I have been picking up WNAR the format is MOYL, Nostalgic clips, Big Band and Standards, a nice blend, with jocks, jingles, liners. I thought my CC Crane was messed up, so I tried my Grace Mondo and my Ocean digital units and its on all of them. I tried OTA on 1620 and no signal, whats funny is WNAR was a Norristown signal and now in New York state on FM and WNPV is/was a Lansdale signal. So whats the deal, hopefully they will be on 1620 OTA.

WNAR used to run multiple Part 15 transmitters around Lansdale. I could hear them almost all the way to the PA Turnpike Northeast Extension toll booth on the southend.

It was maybe a year ago a gal who does some voice work* for us -- she's from right near Lansdale -- asked me if I heard or knew of any station on 1620 that 'played 'oldies'. She heard them.
Nope. I even looked it up -- or tried to.

Mystery solved. Thanks, folks !

* Real sweet voice, with only a hint or two of that suburban Phelly accent. If we can get her to clean up one word, she has a future. She'll say the stuff that comes out of the tap 'worter', but now realizes it and says, 'Shut up, Green',

The part 15 station has been on since 2005 but it has been streaming. on the internet for years so they could widen the audience. They also operate a part 15 named WBUX that plays actual MOR music tapes that once ran at night on WBUX Doylestown, even with the WBUX 1570 jingles. The Part 15 ran on 1680, not sure it still does but it is streaming still. Blog - WNAR-AM Recreation Radio
