WNAZ'S FINAL BROADCAST DAY

Not to come across as a circling buzzard, but has the date been set for WNAZ's final broadcast day? (Or a closing date for the sale?)

I called WNAZ today and was told that word is that Bott's first day is Jan. 1. That may not be official, but it makes sense.

I was in Nashville today and heard WNAZ on my radio for what will probably be the last time. I haven't been able to get streaming to work for some time.

I hope that Trevecca will allow WNAZ to do some sort of farewell program, and I also hope that someone will possibly be able to record at least the last hour and signoff and post it online. I'll definitely miss hearing WNAZ on my trips to Nashville.

So we're now in what will be WNAZ's last week. Will there be any kind of farewell program, or will the station just be shut down unannounced some time this week with Bott taking over on Saturday? I haven't been able to listen over the stream in several months and I won't be back in Nashville before the change happens. Also, is there any live person still working at the station now, or is it all just automated until the end? I still hope someone will be able to record the signoff whenever it happens to be and post it on the web.

I've not listened recently but I would think its mostly automated with the college kids on break for Christmas.

Everything was back to normal (or so I thought) yesterday, but I just heard a Doug & Jaci "Fish" promo on 89.1 and the 93.9/101.9 translators like two minutes ago...maybe it's a sign of what's to come January 1...did anybody hear of Salem getting a piece of the Bott deal?

That would be awesome! However, could 89.1 be a commercial translator in the non-commercial band? That would be great news, considering the Fish is all static in my office, yet I can see NAZ's tower a few feet away. Good news for Gallatin too if so.

I flipped it over and just heard the 94FM promo. While I hope 94FM or Doug and Jaci would be played on NAZ, I assume it's just strategic advertising. It's not hurting NAZ to advertise for the Fish. After all, they'll be gone Jan 1st anyway. Might as well take advertising $ from Salem now and divert listeners from they main competitor, WAY-FM.

Good move, Mr. Fish!

No..

BTW, the FCC today dismissed WNAZ's application to increase power to 22,000 watts. It doesn't say why. The application did specify vertical polarization, which I don't *think* is permissible when interference to TV channel 6 is not an issue.

Funny you should mention WAY-FM...from what I read on the "Save NAZ" Facebook page, there was also a WAY-FM promo aired sometime recently too...Hopefully Bott turns 89.1 over to WAY-FM instead of making it "The Overcomer Ministry Lite"!

The power increase app was rejected because of the vertical only. I think the app will be corrected and resubmitted.
the engineering exhibits do specify horizontal and no vertical.

Is there a new link to the Resistance's Facebook page with the comments on the WAY-FM promo? The link I have doesn't pull them up. It could be that WNAZ is letting listeners know there will be other choices for CCM radio, but I'd think most would prefer WAY-FM.

I doubt that Bott will turn 89.1 over to WAY-FM, but I could see them selling the translators to The Fish.

As far as the "Overcomer Ministry Lite" comment, I may not agree with everyone Bott carries, but they definitely don't allow crackpots like RG Stair on.

I called WNAZ yesterday and got a little bit of good news. I was told that Bott possibly won't take over until Feb., (Possibly because of the setbacks in the request for technical changes?) so we may possibly have a few more weeks with WNAZ on. But I still won't be surprised for it to be where WNAZ is shut down with little or no notice and be off for a period before Bott takes over.

I just hope this turns out to be true. It seems like there has been too much misinformation floating around, and I'm probably guilty of spreading it, although it's been unintentional and I apologize for it.

Now that we have that settled, the only questions are on the AM dial:

A) Since 880's programming is moving to 760, does 880 go silent?

B) Does "Activa 1240" become "Activa 880" after the move?

C) If "Activa 1240" moves to 880, what happens to 1240?

They did refile earlier this week with the vertical-only issue corrected. The FCC hasn't acted on the new application yet -- of course, it's WAY too early to expect action.

Like Al Vecoks said when Vandy wanted to move their sports from AM650 to AM1240 many years ago; "HELL! My hair drier puts out more power than that!"
Vandy stayed on 650 after hearing that analogy....

Outside of Nashville, people would say that (I can barely get 1240 in Lebanon)...at least you can hear 1240 about as well as you can hear 880 in the Music City...

Power increase - 12/28 AMENDMENT SHOULD BE TREATED AS A PETITION FOR RECONSIDERATION OF THE DISMISSAL

UNDER THIS AMENDMENT, ENTRIES FOR THE HORIZONTAL POLARIZATION ON TECH-BOX ITEMS 7, 8, 9, AND 10 WERE ENTERED. A VERSION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE TECHNICAL EXHIBIT RELATIVE TO THIS AMENDMENT UNDER EXHIBIT 15 (ITEM 13) OF THE TECH-BOX WAS ALSO ADDED. THE ILLUSTRATIONS IN THE ORIGINAL EXHIBIT REMAIN VALID.

Power (max) 22kw (H) and 22kw (V).

anybody notice that the modulation and signal for 760 sounds much better now than with the previous owners. I can't help but drive around wondering how many am stations are no where near max.

Subject change..but on the same wave length. Did you notice that Klove is taking over a station in Knoxville early January. There was some discussion and hope that Klove would take this WNAZ signal. Maybe they felt between Fish & Way Nashville had enough Christian music formats already. Klove will be a good format for Knoxville.
