These start out with excerpts of the last Time machine show then on to Don Imus and into a lengthy NBC retrospective.

I recorded several tapes of wnbc's last days in Oct 1988 and over the years I have made them available on the trading circuit. When Napster appeared I encoded them and they were dispersed more widely. recently I came across the originals again and figured that with better equipment and faster connections (compared to 8 years ago) I might as well put them up again, this time intact.

I PERSONALLY thank you for posting this. I was SO sad at the time to see it end. But life goes on. Thanks for the memories. That was an incredible day, especially for the invited guests who stole everything they could get their hands on. I guess I should have been more careful with the people I allowed IN that night.

Someone didn't pitch up some of the old airchecks.

Did they still have BK5B's in the studio? Those would have been worth taking.

I believe the McCurdy board went down south, the guests might as well have helped themselves, NBC was notorious for s-canning what they were done with. A long time friend and neighbor who worked at Color Studio 2 brought me two 77D mics along with 3Mt32 follow spot bulbs during the 1980's ($250 ea) I asked if he would get in trouble, his comment was "no it saves us throwing them in the dumpster".

They threw out some of the shows I was in also another whole story.

I have found another tape of that last day, it featured Reynolds, Colmes, Morrow etc.

It's 90 min and I'll encode when I get a chance later.
