WNBP's Magical 90 Watt Translator

I see you only allow insults by selected members.

Telling you that you are wrong, complete with data sources, is not an insult.

I'm still trying to get over your estimate on the "simple" move of WMEX; it is very hard to take you seriously when you post that type of inaccurate information so consistently.

I didn't say it was simple Eddie I said it was necessary. 25K a month to rent a transmitter site is too high. 10K at the other site is much more reasonable and that is what is planned when the lease expires at WMEX's present site.

Who knows Eddie you may live long enough to see the entire AM radio business die.

I see you think clashing with the management is allowed.

I really don't see people lining up to get on this or any other radio board. It used to be decent before the pulled it down to "Redesign it". If they want to drop me from it who gives a damn? Let the old dinosaurs that once were, to reminisce about the good old days and how radio will come back. When the solution to save AM radio is to more the service to FM it is time to fold up the tent.

The cost of moving a directional station is very high. Engineering, FCC licensing, new phaser, new transmitter, tuning, proofing are big money and can take a long time. And while building and proofing the site, you pay rent at both places.

To move a directional, you may have to reduce power to make it work with the new or different protections required. Lowering power is dangerous in a noisy urban environment where man made interference requires as much power as possible. And being 50kw at 1510 means that you are already no stronger than a 1 kw station at 550!

Add in the need for frequent open carrier moments on the present signal while tuning the new one and all the time consumed, this is not an inexpensive project even if diplexing with another station. I still feel it is going to run in the higher 6 figures to lower 7 figures, depending on the transmitter placed at the new sitee (50 kw? Lower power? Used))

In any case, it will take years and years to amortize the cost. Or, if there is a severe power reduction, the station will become valueless anyway.

Who knows Eddie you may live long enough to see the entire AM radio business die.

It's been nearly two decades since I agreed to work on an AM project. Except for heritage stations, niche propositions and AMs with translators, AM is already dead.

His name isn't "Eddie". It is David.

You are just hell-bent on insulting everyone, aren't you?

If they want to drop me from it who gives a damn?

No one gives a damn what you think anyway at this point, since your "knowledge" has been consistently proven faulty. But keep up the insults and you'll get your wish about being dropped. I guarantee it.
