WNBW-DT 9 in Gainesville is On The Air!

I've received reports that WNBW-DT 9 in Gainesville, FL is now doing signal testing.

Rumor is that it will be a new NBC affiliate. A newspaper article reported they were in talks with NBC a few months ago and there hasn't been any word since, though the call letters are probably a good sign...

Too bad they couldn't get it on the air in time for the Olympics.

Nice call letters though. They used to be on NBC's Washington O&O, now called WRC-TV

Any more news, since programming was to start tomorrow (9/8)? I don't live in Gainesville, but I haven't found anything else for this new station, and I would have thought that its sisters would have done a lot of promoting for it.

This was in comparison to WMBF in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which received its calls, affiliation, even a logo -- several MONTHS before the start of programming.

Unless WNBW pulls a few surprises, my money is on WNBW NOT getting the NBC affiliation; otherwise, Gainesville would've already known all about it.

If it's a full-time shopping channel or reeeeally low-budget indie operation, I call dibs on the We're Nothing But Waste moniker!! :)
