WNCI's Chris Davis

I can say that Chris Davis is one of the reasons I chose radio. Absolutely loved listening to him when he was doing nights at NCI. Even competed with him at nights for a short time doing nights at Hot 105 (yes, he kicked my ass!). And had the pleasure of working with him for a stint in '97. Good guy, a Columbus staple and cool pipes!

Another favorite prior to my joining the 'biz was Tom Kelly when he hosted mornings at the old 92X (rock-40 days). Made those cold morning drives to campus tolerable.

PS I love the format of that station in Philly!

Me too but be careful, somebody here will tell you that you know nothing about radio and it will never work in this market.

Hey Joby and Heather-

You think THAT's something then listen to Mr. Clark now on two awesome signals in Columbus..Chris has been in Philly for a while now..

Try it out, kids!

Take care,

Joby?? Joby Phillips from K95? You worked part-time at WCOL and WNCI before moving to that state to the north of us. Is it really you??? If so, where are you now? You can look me up in the All Access Directory or find me online easily. I still have some airchecks of yours that somehow got put on my DAT's when I went on the air after you. :)

Anyways, yea...Chris has been a personal friend of mine for years and I agree that he's a great guy. Not only does he broadcast from the fairly NEW Clear Channel building here in Columbus on WNCI, but it is true he is on Clear Channel in Philly also. In addition to that, he's helped in writing a great self-help book which has totally changed the way I look at life.

Contact him at www.wnci.com or on Myspace.

JT: I have been on K95 a total of 5 hours... One shift, then not asked back. Started my stint at WCOL 2 weeks later and made that my home for 3 years. I pulled APD/Nights at Wild Country 98-9 in '95-'97. I've been PD/Middays at WCEN/Saginaw for 3 years now and am actively seeking my next gig... some promising possibilities and hope to have big news soon. Oh, and JT: Destroy those tapes! It's bad enough Mike Dunn had video of me during that time.

PBF: The best breaks on that station happened at 11:59PM each night during the handoff. Wish I had those tapes!

The Handoff Tapes!

OMG - remember the spot that was missing, that you and Danger Boy did live?

IIRC, 11p and 12a were often the two highest rated hours on the station!

Is there another station ANYWHERE that does prank phone calls at 3am???

Yes! I knew it was YOU, Joby. ;D

When I said K95, I meant the 95.5, 98.8, 105.7 cluster as a whole. And yes, those were some good times. LOL
All this has NOTHING to do with Chris Davis anymore (other than the fact he worked in those studios at the Continent when WNCI moved in after us), but it's still fun talking about the good ol' days.

Do you have any desire to move back to Columbus, Joby?

My goal is to remain a country PD. I prefer situations where stations are underperforming and coming in to help build something; those are the most satisfying gigs to have (resume and airchecks are up at www.myspace.com/jobyphillips). I have no desire to go west (don't know why, just don't). My dream market has always been Cincy, but my wife & I are open to anything east of the Mississippi, preferably Ohio, Penn, Kentucky, Tenn, or N. Carolina. Would love to return to my hometown, but even with all the recent staff shake-ups in C-Bus I don't think you'll be seeing any programming positions open there in the near future.
