WNCT 1070 in Orlando

Vibe,

You will be happy to know this afternoon from 5:30 until 5:45 your station was booming into Orlando. I was channel surfing and my scanner on my park av stopped. i have followed the start up of your station as I used to be a Beach DJ back in the early 80's on WHNC in Henderson NC and used to be a dj at Crazy Zacks in Raleigh.

Oh by the way its the first time I have ever picked it up. I also graduated from New Bern High School in 1975.

I live about 40 minutes north of 1070 and can hardly pick it up. It is the weakest 50kw AM I have ever seen.

Cool Tanner..Good to hear from you...We are working hard and taking 1070 one day at a time..We are getting some very positive feedback..Right now the station is at 25k during the day due to an Xmitter issue but the part is in and it will be back up to full song soon...I'm having fun helping to build 1070 from the ground up...It has come a long way and we still have a long way to go but I think we're on the right track...

Yo Tanner...

I was at WHNC 1977 through 1982 or so.... maybe 83. When were you there and what name did you use on the air?

Mike "Moose" Smith

I remember you. You had a great voice for a small town. I did the beach music show on Sundays from 12 till 5. I did that for around a year or so. Didn't you leave there for WKIX?

I initially left for a recording studio in Charlotte where I worked for just over a year. I went to WKIX/WYYD after that to PM Drive on WYYD. They had just changed to AC from Beautiful Music and were taking a run at WRAL. I stayed there for just over 5 years and flipped back and forth between WKIX and whatever was going on on 96.1. Left in '89 to go to WTRG. I had a ton of fun at the Big 89. I do wish I had more pictures of that place. It was a cool old building.
