I thought I'd tune into WNCT's online stream for a spell. Eventually, I realized that WNCT, which carries East Carolina Pirates football play-by-play, was in a bowl game today, so I wondered if they were airing the same playlist that they do on the air. They don't. Just the same rotation of twelve songs that you'd hear on their stream while the station is taking a break during their regular playlist - back-to-back-to-back. And not a single liner.
I understand if NCAA prohibits their games from being broadcast on radio stations' online streams. But, come on, if this is the best you can do, just kill the stream and turn it back on after the game. They should be ashamed. They're lucky that they can get away with this, because the station is in a small market. But regardless of market size, I expect better - even when your station is busy carrying sports programming. You owe that to your listeners.
