WNCX plays something cool

Just after 6pm on Wednesday, WNCX/Michael Stanley played two-in-a-row by Bob Seger. The first was what one might expect... "Hollywood Nights" (a great tune, btw), but then, instead of playing just another big AOR hit by Seger, they played a fantastic Hard Rock jam that was based on Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love". I don't listen a-lot to WNCX, and when I do pop them on, I hear a generic Classic Rock hit, so maybe this track is played more then I would think, but it was hot, and I was appropriately Rocking in the Rock and Roll Capitol of the World!

The tune as done by George Thorogood may be a Classic Rock staple, but what about this elongated Jam version that goes off on a tangent? It really just uses the song as a launching pad into Rock and Roll Jam Land? It's not something I've heard "every day" so-to-speak.

Every time I hear that song I get a craving for a cold Sam Adams for some reason...

We played that tune in heavy rotation (along with other Thorogood rockers) at WXKR/Toledo and WRDU/Raleigh.

A Thorogood tune you don't hear often is "Gear Jammer". Nice cut. I remember when 'NCX first played it... mid 80s.
