WNEG Power Increase

AM 630-WNEG in Toccoa has increased transmitting power from 500 watts days to 5000 watts. The station will officially launch the ten fold power increase Wednesday, April 21st at 5:30 p.m. during a Toccoa Chamber of Commerce hosted Open House at the WNEG Studios/Offices in downtown Toccoa. Wednesday is WNEG's 54th anniversary date.

However, the station is operating on 5000 watts Sunday, April 19 and Monday April 20 to test the new transmitter and make sure all is in proper order for Wednesday's ceremony.

Would appreciate any signal reports from across Northeast and North Georgia.

What's the status of the night power increase from 44W nondirectional to 220W directional from a new facility?

We plan to modify it and increase the power to 3000 watts. Complicated as the Cubans are involved.

The listing on the FCC AM query and radio-info.com was wrong for WNEG. I emailed the FCC and it is supposed to be fixed today.

As I emailed Art earlier, it's audible in Silverstreet,SC. Actually I am out in the woods 5 miles north and west. Power line noise is a problem though.

And 640 WGST-AM right next door.

What is he format of WNEG-AM? Is it still Country? Is WNEG-TV 32 in Toccoa still airing "The Billy Dillworth Show"?
