WNEG power increase

AM 630-WNEG in Toccoa has increased transmitting power from 500 watts days to 5000 watts. The station will officially launch the ten fold power increase Wednesday, April 21st at 5:30 p.m. during a Toccoa Chamber of Commerce hosted Open House at the WNEG Studios/Offices in downtown Toccoa. Wednesday is WNEG's 54th anniversary date.

However, the station is operating on 5000 watts Sunday, April 19 and Monday April 20 to test the new transmitter and make sure all is in proper order for Wednesday's ceremony.

Would appreciate any signal reports from across Northeast and North Georgia.

Congratulations Art. It will give me something to check out on my Knoxville to Seneca pilgrimages. The signal was pretty stout at 500 watts. You must be heating the waters of Lake Hartwell now.

It's audible here in the woods some 5 miles north and west of Silverstreet, SC. I have some serious power line noise problems and had to null that out, but I actually heard WNEG. It's not REALLY listenable by "regular listener" standards, but 50,000 watts would take care of that...... ;D
