WNEG-TV now a part of UGA

I understand from news reports the deal for the sale of WNEG-TV to UGA was completed Wednesday, and CBS was dropped.

I also understand that there is no CBS coverage on cable in NE Georgia. WNEG was suppost to move up the dial to make way for former sister WSPA-TV to come in with CBS, but it has not happened. I am assuming the links have not been established. Anyone have info?

I noticed the website (www.wneg32.com) just redirects to TitanTV listings for the time being. I wonder how long it will take UGA to get a website up. Also, when the callsign change to WUGA-TV will occur (sometime soon or when the official relaunch occurs next Fall).

According to the listings on the page, they're still doing their local newscasts. Will this continue in the future under UGA? or will it just be UGA student newscasts?

I keep wondering if WSPA will fill the gap left
by WNEG's dropping CBS. WSPA served Toccoa
and surrounding area for years; it would seem
natural. Besides, I think Stephens County is in
the Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville DMA.

However, I would suspect that Athens will now
have just one CBS affiliate on its cable system--
WGCL. Boy. do I miss WAGA as the CBS affiliate.
