WNET-TV Close Found?

I was going through a tape from 1995 or so and fast-forwarded to its end. I discovered an old WNET-TV channel 13 close that was from August of a given year. An ad about 2 minutes before this close proudly proclaimed an anti-pledge break run. The calendar said "Sunday" for August 24th. I'm not sure how the ID got on there because I live in New Britain, CT and our cable company has never carried channel 13 (5 at one time, then 9 and 11). Here's an image from it:

That's definitely the logo they used. wild idea: Is it possible that was a recycled tape that someone else gave you?

Any chance of vidcaping the entire section?

I have the close transferred to DVD and it goes for about 40 seconds total. As for the videotape it was on, nothing on the tape itself was older than 1995.

That's quite a find, and I know I'd like to see it for myself, as I'm sure others would like to also.

Perhaps you could upload the clip on one of these Yahoo! boards dedicated to television:

The close is on a Fuji DVD+RW disc. Now if I can just figure out how to transfer it to the computer?
______________

That's the easy part, since the DVD is presumably not copy protected.

First you'll need a computer with a DVD drive. Then just select the drive inside windows explorer (or the equivalent in whatever OS it runs.) You'll be looking for files with a VOB extension. For all practical purposes, those are MPEG files. Just copy them over to the hard drive and you should be able to change the extension to .mpg and run them in whatever player you want.

I tried to do that, but the disc came up as "Read Only". :(

(It's on a Fuji DVD+RW disc, if that's important at all.)
______________

You have to copy it TO a writable disk. A floppy might do if the file is small enough, but the hard disk is your best bet. The RW itself will be read-only as far as the operating system is concerned. Just make sure you make the copy first THEN try to do the renaming, otherwise it won't work.

What OS are you running and what was the exact text of the error message?
